The CPU utilization sar option is -u. The %user, %system, %iowait, %steal, and %idle columns contain the same information as the corresponding columns in the vmstat command output. The new columns in the sar report are as follows:
* Ending sample time: When you first run sar, no output appears. But the activity information is being stored until the first interval is complete, and then the output line appears.
